Stop Smoking
This is a one session treatment lasting approximately one and a half hours. The patient comes in as a smoker and leaves a non-smoker. The treatment has a success rate of 85%. Patients will find that all the cravings to smoke disappear and they become highly motivated not to smoke.
Phobias or unwanted fears
Phobias are a very common problem seen by hypnotherapists and are very successfully treated. The most common are: flying phobias, fear of water, heights and spiders, and when treated, patients report that elimination of the fear changes their lives for the better. It usually takes between two to four sessions, depending on the severity of the problem.
Self-confidence/self-esteem
Some people benefit from just one session of confidence building, but more usually a course of treatment is desireable for a lasting effect. Also, some people seek treatment when they are looking forward to a special event in their lives, which they worry they might be overwhelmed by.
Pain Control
Pain control can help patients suffering from the chronic pain of endometriosis, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and many other diseases. It can also help with controlling the pain or alleviating the pain of tension headaches. With pain control the therapist will always write to the patients own general practitioner for permission to treat, and if in doubt the patient should always go to their own doctor first to rule out serious medical conditions.
When patients come for treatment other than Stop Smoking (which is a one session treatment) the first session will involve taking an in depth case history of the problem. The therapist will usually do a brief hypnosis at the end of the session to reassure patients who have not been hypnotised before. The patient and therapist will agree on a course of treatment and the therapist will give an approximate idea of how many sessions will be needed, with a review, if necessary. All therapy sessions will last for approximately 90 minutes.
